About the Center

Organization

The ISRC is housed in the Bauer College of Business at the University of Houston. The Center staff includes: the Director, Blake Ives, who is also a member of the faculty in the Department of Decision and Information Sciences, the ISRC Administrative Assistant, Ashley Tran, who organizes the activities and events of the Center and a Marketing Director, Dan Currie, who is responsible for membership development. This group works with the ISRC member firms and affiliated faculty to help the Center meet its objectives.

ISRC member firms participate in all the activities of the Center and through our advisory board and curriculum council help to shape the activities of the ISRC. Member firms pay an annual stipend of $7,500 for support of ISRC related activities. This stipend goes towards providing several services. They include:

  • Hosting monthly Seminar Series-Roundtables-Workshops during the academic year
  • Hosting student career events where ISRC member firms can interact with MIS students
  • Sponsoring important research in current MIS topics via our white paper series
  • Providing support and assistance to academically and financially deserving MIS students
  • Providing necessary funding and support for student based activities(assistance programs to the MIS Student Organization or MISSO)
  • Support of faculty development and research activities.

Input from member firms is gathered on a continuous basis through interaction with the Center personnel. An annual review and planning session for the Center takes place each May. At this time, a review of the activities of the center is conducted and input from the member firms is formally solicited. The direction of the center's upcoming activities is set at this meeting.

Each sponsoring organization appoints an individual as its primary representative. This individual is the key point of contact between the ISRC and the Member Firm. Most firms appoint a secondary contact and a key recruiting contact.
